"That's a great way to start the new year."

Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh's voice rang out at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California after Michigan earned a hard fought victory over Alabama in the College Football Playoffs semifinals.

And with that, they secured a spot in the National Championship.

This was quite a rivalry game in the New England Patriots locker room this past week, with both Alabama alum and Michigan alum in the building. However, one team came out on top.

With that, three players got to celebrate the win.

And they took to X, formerly known as Twitter to express their excitement. A

And you can't forget about arguably one of the most famous Michigan football alum, with Tom Brady also showing his fandom earlier in the day.

As for the players who might be a little upset after the loss, QB Mac Jones, DL Christian Barmore, LB Anfernee Jennings, and LB Mack Wilson Sr. all played at Alabama.

However, Wilson did congratulate his teammates at the end of the game.

Michigan tied the game up with just over a minute and a half remaining. And Alabama's final drive was unsuccessful, ultimately having to punt. This forced overtime.

Alabama won the toss, but elected to defend first and Michigan charged down immediately thanks to running back Blake Corum. After an 8-yard run to kick things off, he charged forward for 17-yards and got into the end zone.

The Crimson Tide had to then respond, but when met with a crucial 4th and goal, a questionable play call allowed Michigan to come up with the stop.

Safety Adrian Phillips also spoke out about the final play.

Now it's time to see whether Texas or Washington will be joining them in the championship game.
