The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly signing offensive lineman La'el Collins to the practice squad, per ESPN's Todd Archer.

Shortly after the news broke, the returning Cowboy who started 71 games in Dallas between 2015 and 2021 took to Instagram to send his team and fans a resounding message.

"I'm blessed," Collins wrote on his post. "Ima give you everything in me. I love you. #HOME."

I will never not be glad about the Cowboys adding somebody like Collins to the team. Although there were some rumors about his work ethic, here's what I know:

  1. He's the dude that went after a Washington Commanders defender who took a late shot at Dak Prescott and fought him on the sidelines, which is exactly the teammate you want out there.
  2. He's such a class act that when International Player Isaac Alarcón first joined the team, Collins paid for his private sessions with renowned OL guru Duke Manyweather so he develop into an NFL player.

In a more practical sense, it's just a savvy move from Dallas. Low risk, high reward bets have always been their thing. If Collins is healthy following a season-ending ACL injury in last year's Week 16, he could be one of the best options for depth available. If he's not healthy, you're just not spending a lot of money on him.

Controversy emerges around La'el Collins' reported signing

On Wednesday, head coach Mike McCarthy hinted that the Collins signing wasn't a done deal.

“We’re still working through some things,” the Cowboys head coach told reporters via Dallas Morning News' Michael Gehlken. "We're not quite there yet."

While the Cowboys and Collins seem to be finalizing things, Collins' post on Instagram strongly suggests it's nothing to worry about. That being said, we've seen wilder deals fall apart at the last minute, like Randy Gregory's contract extension that was never signed in 2022.

Reports indicate Collins also visited the Buffalo Bills, who will be fighting for a playoff berth in Week 18.
