The Miami Dolphins don't play until Sunday, but they had a couple of big things happen on Saturday that could shape the contest.
Dolphins safety Jevon Holland was downgraded on Saturday from having no injury designation to being listed as questionable for Miami's titanic matchup with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday night. However, LB Jerome Baker was activated from injured reserve on Saturday, seemingly setting the stage for his return.
Baker suffered a knee injury after colliding with safety Brandon Jones during Miami's 45-15 win over the Washington Commanders on December 3. If he is indeed returning to action as it appears, his knowledge, experience, and role as the defensive play caller would be a huge boost to the Dolphins' defense.
Holland suffered injuries in both knees against the New York Jets on November 24. He was sidelined until last week's 56-19 loss to Baltimore. Holland managed to log 55 snaps against the Ravens, although he earned a season worst 48.0 Pro Football Focus grade.
Regardless, Holland has had a phenomenal season, and the Dolphins' secondary is unquestionably significantly better with him on the field. Losing him with Xavien Howard already ruled out would be a brutal hit, especially against an offense the caliber of Buffalo's.
Now, Dolphins fans will have to wait until the inactives are released around 6:50 pm ET on Sunday evening to find out if the Dolphins will be facing the Bills with one or both of their defensive stars.
