Could Bill Belichick be headed to the Washington Commanders next season?
Who knows at this point?
Multiple different reports have come out regarding this specific possibility, and none of them appear to be the same.
So let's take a look at each one:
"The Commanders are not likely to pursue Belichick if they move on from head coach Ron Rivera."
"There are other organizations, like the Commanders and Raiders, hoping to get a chance to meet with Belichick."
Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio
"(Commanders owner Josh Harris) is enamored with the idea of Belichick coaching the Commanders."
What does this mean?
Since Belichick became the head coach of the Patriots, the organization has become one of the most secretive. No one can ever guess what they are about to do.
But this season, reports have been flying every which way about Belichick's future. So why is everything so open all of the sudden?
These conflicting reports are almost poetic in a way, proving that no one will ever know what Belichick is doing or thinking. That is until the official decision is made. And it seems one has not been made yet.
The meeting between Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Belichick is expected to happen at some point next week, after their final game of the season. And it's then that Belichick's future with the Patriots is expected to be addressed.
That doesn't mean that any of these reports are incorrect. These are probably things that they are hearing around the league. But things are constantly changing.
Expect more rumors over the coming days, but things won't be certain until after the meeting between Kraft and Belichick takes place.
