Not much went right for the San Francisco 49ers' defense through two and a half quarters against the Minnesota Vikings.
However, their All-Pro linebacker Fred Warner might have provided them and the rest of the league with a way to stop the Philadelphia Eagles' vaunted tush push.
The Vikings attempted the play while looking to go up 23-7 and boost their chances of pulling off a stunning upset of the 5-1 49ers.
But Warner had other ideas, leaping over the offensive line and bringing down Cousins before he even had a chance to get momentum going.
Much of the talk around a play also known as 'the brotherly shove' has surrounded the need to get low.
Warner provided compelling evidence that, for defenses, it is instead about having players who can elevate, and Jalen Hurts can probably expect to see players attempt to mimic Warner the next time the Eagles attempt a play on which they have not been stopped.
49ers-Vikings: First-half observations as the Niners trail 16-7
A hugely concerning start.
