NASHVILLE– During an eventful press conference centered around the Tennessee Titans recent trade of Kevin Byard, head coach Mike Vrabel dropped some surprising information about Tennessee's quarterback situation this week.
If Ryan Tannehill, who has yet to practice due to a high ankle sprain, can't go against the Atlanta Falcons, Vrabel told Titans media that both Will Levis and Malik Willis will play in the game.
Yes, you read that right. Both Will Levis and Malik Willis are expected to play against the Falcons if Tannehill doesn't start.
What could that possibly mean? Is this just Vrabel being cryptic to get a competitive advantage over the Falcons? Have the Titans just not made a decision yet? Is it possible that both quarterbacks get opportunities to run the offense?
Well Vrabel didn't mince his words. He very clearly said twice that both Levis and Willis would play in the game if Tannehill doesn't. Not could play. Not "we haven't made a decision yet." Both quarterbacks will play.
"Ryan (Tannehill) won't practice today. We'll see where he is at the end of the week and I would imagine that if Ryan can't play, I would anticipate both those quarterbacks playing in the football game," said Vrabel. "Ryan is off of his roller or walker or whatever he had. We'll see where he is at the end of the week."
In my opinion, this points to Will Levis starting the game and handling the vast majority of quarterback duties with some special packages worked into the game plan for Willis to run. I can see a world where Willis runs some RPOs, designed quarterback runs, or even serves as a decoy for a trick play.
If it's not Tannehill, we're going to see both quarterbacks in some capacity. But I have a hard time seeing the Titans playing Levis sporadically throughout the game. If he's out here, I think he's the primary guy.

Ryan Tannehill could benefit from previous surgery.
