3-2 may not be the most exciting record for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after five contests, but it is hard to say the overall product has been disappointing this year.
For all intents and purposes, this could've been a throwaway season in Tampa. The books didn't look great, some key pieces were missing, and the list went on.
Instead, the Bucs came out swinging, have won all the games they needed to, and only have losses against two of the best teams in the NFC. To make matters even better, the Bucs have a perfect opportunity coming up against the Falcons this week.
3-2 may not look pretty at the quarter mark in every way, but 4-2 sure would look nice after six contests, and that is absolutely on the table.
While Tampa has struggled to get over the hump against the good teams, the Bucs have generally dominated the bad teams, and make no mistake-the Falcons are a bad team.
Atlanta may be 3-3, but their record has been far more sporadic than Tampa's. Unlike the Bucs, who have generally dominated the bad teams, the Falcons have lost to and just barely beaten the bad teams on their schedule-often seeing the opponent lose the game rather than Atlanta pulling out a win.
The Falcon defense has been decent at times, but that has been the one consistent part of their success. The offense, which is almost solely based on the run, isn't good enough to support a struggling quarterback and a scheme that barely uses its best weapons.
Given what we have seen, the Buccaneers should be able to chip away at the Falcons with a quick passing game that is supported by play action and motion prior to the snap. The big plays may still not come at the Tom Brady rate of the past few years, but the short ones will be plenty to tire this defense out.
On the other side of the ball, Tampa's defense should suffocate the Atlanta run game and make life a living Hell for quarterback Desmond Ridder, especially considering his terrible recent level of play.
Assuming the Bucs do everything right, this should be a more than easy win for a team that still has a few difficult games coming up on the schedule.
With a win here, the Buccaneers would be right back on schedule at the clear top of the NFC South.
Buccaneers define themselves in dominant Week 4 win
