It was hard to find any part of that game that was actually fun to watch.

Sure, the defense was able to show up at times, but the overall product was extremely disappointing in the Thursday Night Football showing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The worst part? In many ways, this was a very winnable game for the Bucs. They just beat themselves.

The Buccaneers are almost one of the better teams in the NFC. Every part of this team is built to win right now with the exception of the coaching staff, the running backs, and the quarterback.

Sadly, two of these roles are impossible to overcome in the modern NFL. You can take or leave the running back struggles.

Baker Mayfield is holding the ball far too long. Dave Canales calls plays with no urgency and is letting the Todd Bowles school of thought do far too much to push his scheme back into the 2000s. Bowles still calls games like he doesn't want to lose more than it looks like he wants to win.

This is just the start, but if you want to ask why losses are happening, these three issues are the best place to start.

If the Bucs were serious about winning football games, which is still up for debate, analytics and numbers would become centerpieces in this offense to help make up for some of the lack of confidence from Mayfield and the desires of Bowles to control the ball and the clock.

The worst part of it all is that this wasn't even a pretty game from Buffalo. The Bills gave up way too many easy penalties, and while Josh Allen's final stats did look good on paper, his night could've been even better.

This was the type of ugly Thursday Night game that the Bucs could've won-they just beat themselves by letting their same ugly tendencies from the rest of the season to derail the night before it could ever really get going.
