The New Orleans Saints quarterback room has been in flux since the departure of Drew Brees.

Lamar Jackson was an option to follow Brees if the Saints drafted the former Louisville QB in the 2018 NFL Draft. Many fans thought that Jackson would be the pick when the Saints actually selected pass rusher Marcus Davenport after trading up.

Jackson was the 32nd overall pick in that class. If the Saints would have chosen him with their first-round pick, they would have their franchise QB in the time after Brees.

Jackson already has one NFL MVP. He is a special, game-changing type of player, and he added another major accomplishment to his resumé in Week 7.

The Ravens QB joined Drew Brees as only qualified passers since 1950 with multiple career games with passer rating of at least 150 and a rushing touchdown.

Saints fans have been frustrated with the Davenport pick since it happened, and that elevated during this offseason. Davenport was not extended by New Orleans, so they spent two first-round picks on a player that did not get a second deal with the team.

Meanwhile, Lamar was on the board in plain sight for Sean Payton and Mickey Loomis.
