The Indianapolis Colts did not get the news they wanted to hear regarding their star quarterback.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that rookie Anthony Richardson is considering season-ending surgery which would sideline him until 2024.

He added that the good news that came from Richardson's MRI is that the labrum in his right shoulder is not torn and it looked better than they were expecting.

The Colts added Richardson to injured reserve earlier this week, with Gardner Minshew earning the starting spot in his absence.

Richardson left last Sunday's game against the Tennessee Titans after straining his AC joint. The team got multiple opinions on the injury, with some hope that he could rehab and return to the field prior to the end of the season. However, that might not be the case anymore.

Injuries have not been kind to Richardson this season, who was drafted by the Colts with the fourth overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.

In Week 2, Richardson left the game early due to a concussion, and was sidelined for the following week. He returned for Week 4, finishing with two passing touchdowns and one rushing touchdown in the loss.

If Richardson is truly out for the remainder of the season, the quarterback ends his rookie season with 50 completions for 577 passing yards, three passing touchdowns, one interception, and seven sacks, along with 25 carries for 136 rushing yards, and our rushing touchdowns across four games.
