The Chicago Bears are now 1-5 on the season, with an injured starting quarterback, and staring straight down the barrel of a massive rebuild. All of those signs point toward the Bears being major sellers in the coming days.

The NFL trade deadline is set for Oct. 31 at 4 p.m. EST which gives Bears general manager Ryan Poles plenty of time to get on the phones and start calling other teams around the league.

The more picks the Bears can acquire, the better in the long run with the main bulk of that rebuild expecting to finally take shape this offseason.

Here are three players the Bears should consider shopping around the league that should have plenty of enticing value for contending organizations.

CB Jaylon Johnson

The Bears fourth-year cornerback returned to the lineup in Week 6 against the Minnesota Vikings after missing the previous two weeks of the season.

Johnson was targeted five time against the Vikings, allowing three receptions for 22 yards in the loss. Pro Football Focus gave Johnson a 63.9 coverage grade in his return, his lowest mark on the season.

Johnson has put together a solid year outside of Sunday and the two games missed due to injury. He only allowed five receptions through three games entering Week 6. Unfortunately, the team's top corner could provide more value elsewhere given the breakout performance of Terell Smith and consistency of Tyrique Stevenson.

The Bears had an option to extend Johnson going into the season this summer but elected not to follow through with the negotiations. Johnson instead entered into the final season of his rookie deal and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent once the season ends.

Contending teams needing a boost in the secondary such as the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles should be more than interested in adding Johnson. If the 24-year-old is no longer in Chicago's long-term plans in the secondary, Poles would be wise to deal him away before he's forced to offer an extension or lose him entirely.

DE Yannick Ngakoue

When the Chicago Bears signed defensive end Yannick Ngakoue to a one-year, $10.5 million late in the offseason, it was a moved made with higher expectations.

Now that the team is tied with the second-worst record in the league, there's no point in having a 28-year-old taking snaps away from the younger players on defense. Ngakoue has definitely been a great leader for the unit, but he will have more value rushing the passer and contending for a title than stat padding in Chicago.

His one year deal makes him easily moveable, and gives a contending team a short-term flier to utilize during a playoff run. These types of moves are increasingly popular at the deadline over the past two years with edge rushers such as former Bear Robert Quinn, Bradley Chubb, Melvin Ingram, and Von Miller all going playoff hopeful teams.

Ngakoue has totaled 10 solo tackles, two sacks, and four QB hits during the 2023 season. The NFL veteran has played for six different NFL franchises and can easily pick up a scheme and make an impact quickly if he were to be sent to a new team.

WR Darnell Mooney

Another player whom the Bears elected to not secure long-term before the start of the season, and one who has failed to carve a role on offense all season long.

Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney just hasn't been cutting it this season as the team's number two option behind DJ Moore. Mooney has only caught 10 passes on the season, for 152 yards and 1 touchdown through six games.

Mooney has been held without a single reception in two of those six games. For a player who the team wanted to see shine one more time before offering a long-term deal, Mooney has flat out disappointed.

However, Mooney could certainly provide some support for teams needing an upgrade at the position, such as the Kansas City Chiefs, during the second-half of the season if he were to be traded. And given the current market-value for the expected free agent, this might be the only chance the Bears have to get something in return for the 25-year-old.

This deal will help out both sides of the party. Mooney can join a new team that will hopefully secure him to an extension and utilize his abilities more effectively while the Bears can recoup more draft capital and allow their younger pass catchers to get more reps throughout the remainder of the season.

The clock is ticking for Poles to pick up the phone and start reaching out to contending teams. With three available players at key positions, he should have more than one suitor willing to make a deal.
