That being said, tensions are high. The talent on the roster is not matching the production output on the field on a consistent basis.
Offensive Coordinator Pete Carmichael Jr. has often been a candidate for criticism. His play-calling, especially in difficult situations, has crumbled for the Saints. Fans and even some media have called for a change, but HC Dennis Allen has not chosen to do that yet.
A division rival, the Carolina Panthers, did pull that trigger. HC Frank Reich is stepping down from their play-caller on offense. He's relinquishing that task to OC Thomas Brown. New Orleans could learn from them.
For New Orleans, their option would be QBs coach Ronald Curry. He called some plays in the preseason.
Curry doesn't have a ton of experience calling plays in the NFL, but the change could be useful for New Orleans. He is a very well-respected mind on staff and around the NFL.
Overall, if struggles continue, the Saints will have to make a decision like the Panthers did. Unfortunately for Carolina, they are winless so far this year.
