The Jets managed to get their second win of the year against the Denver Broncos by a final of 31-21.  Things looked bleak for New York at halftime as the offense was non-existent behind Zach Wilson.

The Jets went into the half down 13-8, but all the points the Jets scored to that point (two field goals and a safety) were a result of the defense and spectacular special teams.

Breece Hall returned to the scene of his knee injury last season and turned the Jets fortune around in the third quarter with a 72-yard touchdown run.  The Jets never relinquished the lead after that relying on their defense.

The Jets defense was finally able to do what it was built to do, which is play with a lead.  The defense was finally able to pin their ears back and get after a quarterback who was trying to come back.

The win, while satisfying considering all of the Sean Payton drama, did come at a cost.  Much like the last time the Jets visited Denver, they walked away with a win, but without the team intact.

The Jets saw a myriad of injuries, especially along the offensive line during the game.  Mekhi Becton, Alijah Vera-Tucker and rookie second-round pick Joe Tippmann, all left the game at some point with an injury.

Becton left the game three separate times during the game dealing with the same knee injury that kept him out all of last season and parts of training camp.  Considering he was able to return to the game, it doesn't appear to be a re-aggravation of the injury and I would imagine he should be fine to play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.

Joe Tippmann, who has been nothing short of spectaular since being forced into the starting line-up after Duane Brown went on IR, limped off the field during the fourth quarter and went right into the blue medical tent.  Tippmann said after the game that he was fine and didn't seem to concerned.

The main concern for the Jets is for Alijah Vera-Tucker.  AVT, who missed a lot of time last season with a torn triceps injury, ironically enough at Denver last year, limped off the field late in the second quarter.

After the game Jets head coach Robert Saleh sounded concerned that the injury could be serious, perhaps even a torn Achilles.

“It’s a concern for sure,” Saleh said.

When asked if Vera-Tucker could have an Achilles injury, Saleh only said: “He’s going to have to get an MRI.”

On Monday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network gave a positive update saying that it might not be an Achilles as originally feared, but Vera-Tucker is not out of the woods yet.

With the Eagles coming to town who are stout up front on both the offensive and defensive lines in the NFL, the Jets will need to get healthy in a hurry in order to have a shot at pulling the upset.
