The New England Patriots are getting one of their top weapons back this week it seems.

The Patriots Beat's Ben Belford-Peltzman reports that Tyquan Thornton is expected to be back at practice on Wednesday. How much he will participate at practice is still unknown as "the Patriots are still working through some things."

Once he begins practicing, Thornton would have to be placed on the active roster within 21 days. However, Belford-Peltzman added that there is still hop that he might be ready to go for Sunday's home contest against the Saints.

The receiver was placed on injured reserve at the start of the season after suffering a shoulder injury during the first joint practice with the Green Bay Packers on Aug. 17, making a diving catch from Mac Jones. He landed hard on his shoulder and immediately left practice.

He avoided being waived on cutdown day, making the initial 53-man roster before being placed on injured reserve.

This was the second straight season that Thornton began the season on injured reserve, having broken his collarbone during the Patriots second preseason game last year. He finished his rookie season with 22 receptions for 247 yards and two touchdowns across 13 games.

With no clear top receiver showing up throughout the opening games for the Patriots and Jones' familiarity in throwing to Thornton, this could be what the Patriots needed to get back on track.
