The Las Vegas Raiders have one thing up their sleeve for Monday Night Football that the Green Bay Packers may be unable to stop.
These teams have some familiarity with one another in that wide receiver Davante Adams used to play there, and the Packers special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia was the interim head coach for the Raiders after the firing of Jon Gruden.
So, Bisaccia can still give a bit of intel on some of the players that were under him in 2021 and are still on the team now. And it sounds like he is already talking about Maxx Crosby.
"It's every play. He's relentless. If you think you have him blocked for a second and you let up, he ends up finding a way to swim you, or you know, maneuver around you and hit the quarterback," Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said. "He is constantly hitting the quarterback, whether the quarterback got the ball in his hands or not – or where he's just releasing it. This guy is a special player. He's one of the best players in this league."
According to NFL Next Gen Stats, "Maxx Crosby played every snap for the Raiders defense in today's loss to the Chargers (63 of 63). Since the start of last season, Crosby accounts for five of the seven games where a defensive lineman has played 100% of their team's defensive snaps."
So, LaFleur is right; Crosby does not miss snaps and does not take snaps off. He has a motor like no other in the league.
"I've asked Rich [Bisaccia] a million times, and he just said he's [Crosby's] different," Lafluer continued. "In a positive way, obviously. He's just relentless. I don't know any other way to describe it. But yeah, I haven't seen too many guys that can compete at that high of a level for that long of a period of time. It's pretty impressive."
Maxx Crosby is currently having a Defensive Player of the Year type of season. He is on pace for 115 pressures, 17 sacks, and 26 quarterback hits. Now, because of his team's lack of success, especially on the defensive side of the ball, he won't win DPOY. However, he is having a great year nonetheless.
Bisaccia is right, too – Crosby is different. You can gameplan for him all you want, but he will still do whatever he wants. He's him, as the kids say.
Packers coach already sees problems coming with two Raiders stars
The Raiders may have an upper-hand.
