The New England Patriots have a rich history of winning. Their dominance across the NFL during Tom Brady's tenure is unmatched in NFL history. Put plainly, all they did was win football games.
During that time, LB Jamie Collins made his presence felt on the football field. The talented linebacker appeared in 79 games over 7 years with the Patriots which resulted in 59 starts, 9 interceptions, 13 forced fumbles, 330 combined tackles and 18.5 sacks during his time with the Patriots.
What's even more impressive are his two touchdowns, one from an interception and another from a fumble recovery. As Mike Reiss from ESPN reported, Collins has officially announced his retirement.
"It hasn't hit me yet, but I'm officially retired," Collins added in an interview. "It was wonderful and something I never thought I'd be a part of. Made a lot of great relationships. Had a ton of fun. Now it's time to relax and be with my family."
Collins most recently was brought back to New England during the 2021 season and stayed throughout 2022. Before that, Collins spent some time with the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions.
Throughout his entire NFL career, Collins played in 125 regular season games with 708 tackles, 26.5 sacks, 12 interceptions, and 19 forced fumbles. A one-man wrecking crew on the defensive side of the football.
Collins was beloved in Patriots circles and we wish him nothing but the best in his retirement.
