The New England Patriots had a busy week, hosting the Philadelphia Eagles for a joint practice along with a preseason game.

And with so much happening, some players really impressed, while others had a hard week.

So here is the Patriots stock up and stock down following the 14-13 loss to the Eagles on Thursday night.

Stock Up

Drake Maye

After only getting one drive in the Patriots first preseason game, Jerod Mayo decided to give the rookie quarterback four series in Thursday night's game.

On his first drive of the night, Maye got the Patriots in field goal position and veteran kicker Joey Slye finished it off with a 51-yarder.

The quarterback then took the field again and managed to get the Patriots all the way down the field and into the red zone. But what made everything better was when he kept the ball and ran it in for a 4-yard touchdown.

What this proved is that the rookie quarterback needs the reps in game situations. There is only so much Maye can show in practice, but in a game, he has the opportunity to have a bit more freedom and show why the Patriots drafted him with the No. 3 overall pick.

Pass Rush

It is very hard to find someone who can fill the big shoes that Matthew Judon left after he was traded to the Atlanta Falcons on Wednesday.

But the Patriots have some promising guys on the roster, and they proved that they can make an impact during the season.

Joshua Uche, Keion White, and Oshane Ximines are three players that are expected to step up now. And in the loss to the Eagles, they each recorded a sack.

This was what they needed to do so soon after losing Judon.

Joey Slye

There is certainly a leader in the Patriots kicking competition (at least from what I'm seeing).

After nailing a 50+ yard field goal during a training camp, the Patriots turned to him in the first preseason game. Chad Ryland was only tasked with the extra points.

And the second game was exactly the same.

Along with his 51-yard field goal, he also hit a 45-yarder in the fourth quarter.

So far throughout the preseason Ryland has yet to take a field goal in a game.

Bryce Baringer

Baringer had an impressive rookie season and is proving that he didn't miss a beat. In the second preseason game, his first punt of the night was very impressive.

It went for 64 yards and rolled out of bounds at the 1-yard line, pinning the Eagles back to start their drive.

Stock Down

Jacoby Brissett

The veteran quarterback has had a decent showing this summer, but had his worst reps during the Patriots' contest against the Eagles.

Brissett only got three drives in the preseason game before being replaced by Maye. He went three-and-out on the first drive, followed by an interception on the second drive. And then on the third, he went three-and-out once again.

He finished going 3-for-7 for 17 yards.

The Patriots need a lot more out of their "starter" if they want to be competitive this season.

Vederian Lowe

The Patriots do not have a clear left tackle, so it has been Vederian Lowe in that spot. But after losing Trent Brown, Lowe certainly hasn't done enough to step up and fill those shoes.

Specifically on Thursday, he allowed a sack along with multiple pressures. And not to mention, he was called for the team's only penalty, which was a false start.

Marcellas Dial

Dial really struggled against the Eagles offense, which led to Philadelphia targeting him throughout the night. The rookie cornerback was the only defensive player the Patriots selected in this year's draft.

He let up seven catches for 87 yards and was involved in allowing the two-point conversion that gave the Eagles the win.
