NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Titans defeated the San Francisco 49ers by a final score of 17-13 on Saturday night at Nissan Stadium.

Tennessee fans can come away from the preseason opener feeling good about their first team offense – which put up 14 points on 14 plays – and the success in the return game.

Titans fans should also celebrate good health. Tennessee escaped relatively clean on the injury front, according to head to Coach Brian Callahan in Sunday’s press conference.

Veteran linebacker Luke Gifford suffered a concussion on the opening kick off of Saturday night's game. Gifford is expected to miss some time, which is an unfortunate break for a veteran who was coming off a big week of training camp practices.

Callahan had no other injuries to report, but did say he expects the Titans to get a few key players back for joint practices with the Seattle Seahawks this week.

Veterans safety Jamal Adams has missed a chunk of practice with soreness, but should be on the field later this week. Joining Adams will be his former Seahawk teammate Quandre Diggs, who has been getting up to speed after signing late into camp.

Both Adams and Diggs are expected to practice against their former team in Nashville this week. They both could play this coming weekend as well.

The same cannot be said for Jeffrey Simmons, L’Jarius Sneed, or Harold Landry III. Callahan does not need to see his star defenders take the field before the regular season kicks off. As of now, the Titans plan is for Simmons, Snead, and Landry to all sit the entirety of the preseason.
