In today’s world of college football recruiting, it is never a given that schools will be able to keep the top prospect in their given state from going elsewhere.

That is exactly what the Ohio State Buckeyes had to do with their top running back target who is from Cleveland.

Four-star running back Bo Jackson has as good of a name as it gets for a college running back and now he is committed to play in Columbus.

Ohio State had to go head-to-head with Georgia at the end of this recruitment and were able to come out on top. Alabama was another premier program that was heavily involved with the nation’s No. 5 running back in the country. All in all, Jackson held nearly 25 offers, and schools like Auburn, Florida, Miami, Michigan, and Notre Dame were in on the talented running back.

There was some worry with this one because Jackson visited Athens two weekends ago and had a good official visit with Georgia. This past weekend, Ohio State rolled out the red carpet for Jackson and it was enough to get him to announce his commitment on Tuesday.

Now, Jackson can focus on his senior season at Villa Angela-St. Joseph with his recruitment behind him. Jackson was scheduled to visit Alabama this coming weekend, but Ohio State closed the door before he was able to get to Tuscaloosa.

Jackson is the first running back commitment for the Buckeyes in the 2025 class and won’t be the last. Ohio State is going to take at least two backs with the possibility of losing both TreVeyon Henderson and Quinshon Judkins after the 2024 season. Four-star running backs Jordon Davison and Isaiah West are two other running backs that the Buckeyes are after heavily.

The Buckeyes now have 13 players committed in the class of 2025 and Jackson comes as the latest. Ohio State likely feels a big relief after holding off a pair of SEC schools who wanted the Cleveland running back badly.
