Stefon Diggs' time with the Buffalo Bills ended with quite a bit of controversy. So when he was traded to the Houston Texans, it was a move that many saw coming.
Diggs spoke with reporters in Houston for the first time since being traded, taking a moment to speak very highly of his time in Buffalo.
And with that, he also took a moment to praise his former quarterback.
"He was an intricate piece of my career," Diggs said about Josh Allen on Tuesday. "At that point, when I left Minnesota, I was a good player. But I always felt more for myself. I felt like I was better than that — that I could be better than that. And kind of up to that point, I was just like 'S—. I'm going to roll the dice and bet on myself.'
"When I got to Buffalo, Josh was and still is my guy. People don't really understand what it's like to be out there. He really embraced me. He kind of had that southern hospitality. We spent a lot of time together and I probably wouldn't be right here if it wasn't for him. I got a lot of love for that boy, so y'all give him a hug and a kiss for me."
This is quite a difference from what he said on social media prior to the trade, seeming to take a swipe at Allen back in April.
The situation began when Robert Griffin III posted a video captioned, "is Stefon Diggs essential to Josh Allen’s success?" And Griffin III's answer was clear: "He is."
However, one fan responded, giving Diggs credit for his skills, but also said that Allen doesn't necessarily need him.
"Does Josh benefit from having a top tier receiver, yes. Is he essential to his success, no," the fan wrote on X.
Diggs response was simple, but it said enough: "You sure?"
And after four seasons, where Diggs' production saw an impressive increase after his time in Minnesota, he still had a feeling that it was coming to an end during the 2023 season.
"We had some ups and downs especially after the first eight (games). We got a coaching shift and different things going different ways, different schemes," Diggs said. "You know the ups and downs of it. But for me, you kind of felt it in the air a little bit. When I got traded, I was happy. I was in a good place. Like I said, I told God to light my path and here I am. So, he makes no mistakes."
So Diggs and Allen have gone their separate ways, but it seems there is no bad blood.
