The Washington Commanders are entering the freshest of eras under managing partner Josh Harris, new general manager Adam Peters, and new head coach Dan Quinn. This is only the second year of Harris' tenure, so it's about as fresh a start as an NFL franchise can get.

Harris has been working hard to erase the stench from the Dan Snyder era – one of the most tumultuous and unsuccessful ownership stretches in NFL history. So far, things have been positive, outside of last year's dreadful 4-13 record that resulted in the firing of former two-time Coach of the Year, Ron Rivera.

Harris made another move, recently, to show that he's all-in when it comes to revamping the franchise. He is replacing the astroturf that has comprised the Commanders' practice facility and is replacing it with natural grass – something that's been long, long overdue. In fact, it was the last remaining astroturf practice field in the NFL.

"Let's give some props to Josh [Harris] and his team of recognizing when things have to change, you know, for the betterment of these players, that he's going to find a way to do that," Commanders head coach Dan Quinn told reporters on Wednesday. "And that's his pact to the guys – knowing that if there's a way to dig in, to let them know that he's going to turn over every rock, so to speak, to make this experience as strong as it could be. Man, and we're appreciative of that. So it'll be another grass field, that we'll have here. And hopefully that'll be by the end of training camp. That's a timeline for that as we're going forward.

"But it's a pretty cool thing to see that when there's a chance to do it a little better and taking that shot to do it. We've got a lot of appreciation for Josh and his team and what they're trying to accomplish, here."

After a very solid offseason that not only saw the team draft what it hopes is the franchise quarterback of the future in Jayden Daniels, now, it's all about turning the attention toward the regular season, which is exactly what the team is doing during OTAs.

And while it remains to be seen what happens in 2024, it's safe to say that it is in fact a different era in Washington and as long as things are done the right way, the arrow will continue to point upward.
