2025 five-star cornerback Devin Sanchez has been committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes since early January, but that hasn't stopped other programs from continuing to pursue the dynamic defender.
Sanchez, 6-foot-2/170 lbs from Houston, TX (North Shore), is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 cornerback in the nation and the No. 1 player in the state of Texas. He's also rated as the No. 4 overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.
The scouting report on Sanchez from 247Sports' Gabe Brooks suggests that the Texas native could be an early-round NFL draft selection in the future thanks in large part to his "virtually ideal physical and athletic traits".
From 247Sports: Possesses virtually ideal physical and athletic traits in an era that prioritizes height and length at corner. Got on the field early and often for one of TXHSFB's highest-profile programs and perennial 6A D-I state championship contender. Believed to be a legitimate 6-foot-2 with a plus wingspan that combines with instinctive play style. Owns a rare combination of frame length, fluidity, and sudden athleticism. Athletic profile includes an impressive sophomore-year 10.81 100 and relay experience that allow for true man-to-man field duties. Capable in turn-and-run situations. Plays with above average ball skills. Anticipatory abilities, quick-trigger twitch, and length put him in the catch window consistently. Lean, wiry build that likely fosters high press-man potential, but needs to add some mass and fill out. Still, a willing participant in the perimeter run game when required. Through his junior season, appears to be one of the top prospects in the Lone Star State and among the nation's top defensive recruits in his class. Projects as a potential high-major impact player in college with a long-term ceiling that could lead to NFL Draft early-round consideration.
It's easy to see why programs like Alabama, Oregon, Texas, and Texas A&M have continued to pursue Sanchez.
But those recruiting efforts are futile at best.
Rivals.com national recruiting director Adam Gorney noted on Monday that sources have told him that Sanchez is "1,000 percent" committed to Ohio State.
From Rivals.com: Other schools have reached out and shown interest especially because Houston (Texas) North Shore is such a hotbed of talent but I was told by a good source that the five-star cornerback is “1,000 percent” committed to the Buckeyes and is not focused on any other schools.
Sanchez looks like the next great future NFL cornerback from Ohio State.

Might not be a bad idea
