The Miami Dolphins' defense wasn't quite right at times in 2023.  As it turns out, some of that had to do with how the Dolphins' players felt about and gelled with their former defensive coordinator Vic Fangio.

A number of players expressed their disappointment with their treatment by Fangio while he was with the Dolphins, with it reportedly being a major talking point among multiple players in post-season exit interviews.

So, a logical follow up question is: how do the players feel about their new defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver?  Quite well, it seems.  Safety Jevon Holland didn't pull any punches when talking about his new defensive coordinator on Tuesday, calling the difference between the two men as "a complete 180".

Fangio and his handling of the secondary was certainly a source of controversy during the season.  Rookie second round draft pick Cam Smith rode the pine for most of the season after falling out of favor with Fangio in the preseason.   Xavien Howard was miffed at not being asked to shadow Stefon Diggs in the first matchup between the Dolphins and Bills in 2023, which was won by Buffalo 48-20.

And it was particularly clear how Holland felt about Fangio when news broke about the latter parting ways with the Dolphins earlier this year.  Holland posted a video of him kicking a rock, an obvious message telling his former coach to kick rocks.

It remains to be seen how Weaver fares in his first season in charge of the Dolphins' defense.  But it's pretty safe to say that he already has the attention and respect of some key players on his side of the ball.
