It has not been an easy transition for Caitlin Clark since she started her highly anticipated WNBA career. And that's not because of her lack of experience.

The welcome she has received from fellow players in the league has been disappointing, and it was on full display during a very controversial moment during the Indiana Fever's recent game against the Chicago Sky.

Sky guard Chennedy Carter appeared to say something to Clark before shoulder-checking and hip-checking the Fever star to the ground. It was unprovoked and before the play started, however, the officials initially called it an away-from-the-ball foul, and didn't review the play.

This foul quickly gained a lot of traction on social media, with everyone from sports figures to fans, commenting on the hate Clark has received. But with all that, many people also voiced their support. And Brittany Mahomes was one of them.

"@caitlinclark22 keep doing your thing!!" Brittany wrote in her message to the Clark on her Instagram story. "You're a baller and it's incredible to see what you're doing for the game and women's sports!!"

The WNBA reviewed Carter's foul and it was upgraded to a flagrant-1 violation.

Brittany Mahomes is a huge supporter of women's sports, having played collegiate soccer along with a one-year professional career in Iceland. Because of her passion for soccer, she helped bring the National Women's Soccer League to Kansas City, becoming part of the ownership group.

Why Brittany Mahomes' Comments Are So Important

Women's sports are growing in the United States, but it is still no where near what it should be. Specifically, with Clark's impressive collegiate career at Iowa along with her transition into the WNBA, women's basketball has seen viewership skyrocket.

Clark's talent is unmatched, but she has received a lot of hate since she joined the league. And a lot of that has come from fellow players in the WNBA.

It was truly shown prior to the NCAA Championship game between Iowa and South Carolina, when Diana Taurasi had a message for Clark. Many people saw this as her knocking the star player down before her career even began. And now that she's officially in the league, Clark has been the target of increased physicality during games.

I get competition, with each player obviously wanting their team to win. But you shouldn't need to tear a player down or target them in such a blatant and unnecessary manner on and off the court. Women should be supporting other women because there are enough people in this world that are tearing them down.
