The Miami Dolphins' international footprint is about to expand in a very big way.
The team announced on Monday during the NFL owners meeting that the team has been granted marketing rights to three new countries through the league's Global Markets Program: Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico.
According to the team, the Dolphins are now just one of two teams that can boast they have marketing rights in at least six different countries.
Miami was originally given marketing rights to Spain, Brazil, and the United Kingdom back in December 2021. Now, three Latin American countries can be added to that list.
Given the diverse Spanish-speaking population that lives in South Florida, including from Mexico and Central and South America, the marketing arrangement between the Dolphins and these three countries is very logical and should help draw interest in those countries. The Dolphins also note that Mexico has the largest Dolphins international fan base on social media.
In short, the agreement grants the Dolphins the right to perform promotional activities and interact with fans in those countries the same way they're permitted in their own domestic market for a five-year period. The NFL will play a regular season game in Madrid in 2025, with the Dolphins being a legitimate contender to play there, as they're just one of two teams (Chicago Bears) to hold marketing rights in Spain.
As such, it seems fans around the world are about to get a closer look at one of the most high-flying teams in the NFL.
