NFL Draft season is upon us and for the next few weeks we will be ranking our top five options for the Lions at each position of need. We'll also be ranking players based off of where the Lions are picking. So these will be players that they will be able to draft. We've already done cornerbacks and receivers, now it's time to do tight ends.

The Lions might have felt that they were set at this position not too long ago, but then Brock Wright signed an offer sheet with the 49ers that the Lions have to match by Wednesday. There's a lot of signs pointing towards the idea that they may decline to match that offer and Wright will head to San Francisco. If that happens, here's my top five tight ends for the Lions in the 2024 NFL Draft:

Ben Sinnott

Anyone who really knows me knows that I love a super back. That’s not what Kansas State called him, but that’s what he is. Sinnott can line up at tight end, receiver and running back. The versatility is something that’s incredibly hard to pas up on.

The Lions have multiple needs that Sinnott can fill. If Wright is gone he can play tight end. It seems like Jason Cabinda is gone. That's fine because Sinnott can play fullback. I'm very high on this guy. He is currently slated to go in the fourth round.

Erick All

The Lions drafted Sam LaPorta in the second round of last years draft and this is who Iowa had transferred in from Michigan to replace him. All was having a solid year and was Iowa’s leading receiver until he tore his ACL in October and had to miss the rest of the season. He should be ready to go by sometime during training camp.

While his rookie year might not be all that great, All is an option for the future. The Lions could be dangerous in some two tight end sets with LaPorta and All and defenses would hate it. He's currently slated to go in the fourth round.

Jaheim Bell

A pretty athletic tight end that can both block and and catch the ball. He’s a tight end that can stretch the field and make some plays. Him and LaPorta together would be scary for defenses.

The thing holding Bell back is that he is a bit undersized at the position. But he may be too big to play receiver. He's sort of in no man's land with his size. Bell is currently slated to go in the fifth round.

Jared Wiley

Wiley is a guy that really caught my eye at the Senior Bowl in January. The thing I liked about him was the violent way he dealt with blockers or guys that were covering him. He’s aggressive out there.

You know who else was violent and and aggressive as a tight end? Lions head coach Dan Campbell. Wiley is slated to be a seventh-round draft pick right now. I expect to him go higher when the draft rolls around.

Tip Reiman

Reiman is a guy that I’ve seen some Lions fans asking for since the Brock Wright news dropped. Reiman is a solid blocking tight end. There is not a ton of pass catching going on with him. So in a sense, he is a lot like Brock Wright.

Reiman may be a better blocker though and that is something the Lions really need at the spot. Wright was decent, but he also had quite a few lapses that cost the team some yards. Reiman is slated to go in the seventh round.
