2023 was a wild season for the Cleveland Browns that resulted in their second playoff appearance in four seasons.

Moving away from last season and forward, the Browns are not receiving a whole lot of respect from oddsmakers when it comes to how good they’re projected to be next season.

DraftKings Sportsbook has the Browns at just 8.5 wins on the over/under, which would be a step back from what they accomplished last season.

Oddsmakers have the wrong idea for the Browns in 2024

Cleveland is going to have a tougher schedule in 2024 thanks to their second-place finish in the AFC North last season. The amount of injuries that the Browns worked through in 2023 is almost unheard of. They won 11 games with five different quarterbacks starting in the regular season and with a boatload of other injuries.

It is clear that the Browns expect Nick Chubb back at some point in 2024 and his reemergence would be huge to the team. Cleveland had to play with their fourth and fifth offensive tackles last season by the end of the year and they only had starting QB Deshaun Watson six total games.

Cleveland is only improving this offseason and they have not lost any players in free agency that are game-changers or irreplaceable. The offense is better on paper with the acquisition of Jerry Jeudy and the draft is yet to come.

Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski are still running things and both are on the brink of receiving contract extensions, deservingly so. Stefanski just one his second Coach of the Year award and the best player on the team was named Defensive Player of the Year last time out, Myles Garrett.

Year No. 2 for the defense should be another step forward for a unit that was very good in 2023. Better luck in terms of health and another year under Jim Schwartz are both positives that should happen.

It is hard to envision the Browns taking a step back to around 8.5 wins. Things would have to go south, which has happened before. Still, it is hard to see that happening to this regimen with the change they’ve brought to Cleveland.
