The Buffalo Bills traded Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs to the Houston Texans on Wednesday, shocking the NFL world.

Not only was it an inter-conference trade, Diggs was one of the Bills' biggest weapons and he now joins an up and coming Texans squad led by 2023 rookie sensation and Offensive Rookie of the Year, CJ Stroud.

But, even though the Bills are losing one of the best receivers to come through Orchard Park in recent memory – they already have an answer, actually answers, when it comes to replacing him.

For starters, the team signed free agent Curtis Samuel. While he's certainly not an elite player, he's a versatile guy that can be used in many ways and has electric speed. Then there's Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox, James Cook, and the budding Khalil Shakir.

The Bills are also in great shape when it comes to a finding true No. 1 receiver to replace Diggs. It all starts in the 2024 NFL Draft – one that is absolutely loaded at the receiver position. One guy, LSU's Brian Thomas Jr., was actually mentioned as a first-round target in The Athletic just hours before the trade news broke:

Stefon Diggs turns 31 in November and Buffalo has no identifiable successor. The other receivers in Buffalo are solid: Khalil Shakir is underrated (graded PFF’s WR29, just ahead of Zay Flowers), Curtis Samuel is a gadget option and Dalton Kincaid had the most receiving yards by a rookie TE in team history (673). But none has clear WR1 potential. The Bills could spend an early pick on a WR in this strong class – potentially LSU WR Brian Thomas Jr. – Jacob Robinson, The Athletic

And, if they even wanted, the Bills could trade up in Round 1 in order to ensure they get their guy. The team has the No. 28 overall pick, obviously, plus pick No. 60 and now, two 2025 second-rounders. They could use No. 28 and then whatever combo makes sense, afterward, to move up.

The Bills wouldn't make this move without a plan or without alternate options. And sure enough, they have plenty of ways to mitigate the loss of Stefon Diggs.
