Another top target for the Cincinnati Bengals is in town for what's likely a top 30 visit with the team this week.
Former Georgia offensive tackle Amarius Mims posted his presence in Cincinnati to his Instagram Wednesday afternoon, a day after former Washington OL Troy Fautanu was in town for a top 30 visit.
Mims is one of the top offensive lineman in a stacked class at the position in this year's NFL Draft. He's played just over 800 career snaps at right tackle for the Bulldogs, and is still just 21 years old.
After measuring in at 6-8 and 340 pounds with arms over 36" long, Mims showed to be the most physically imposing offensive lineman at the NFL Scouting Combine. He then wowed evaluators with a 5.07 in the 40-yard dash, confirming his elite athleticism for his immense size.
Unfortunately, Mims strained his hamstring right after that run, and added another injury to his resume. He dealt with ankle problems during the 2023 season which caused him to miss several weeks.
Durability concerns are by far the biggest weakness with Mims' profile. He's only started eight career games in college in large part due to not being able to play.
But when he has played, his tape and production are both arguably more impressive than any other tackle in this talented class.
Mims' high ceiling as a prospect combined with his size makes him a likely target for the Bengals. His natural position of right tackle also matches what the Bengals potentially need this year with oft-injured Trent Brown holding that spot for now. Right tackle also remains a definite need beyond 2024.
The Bengals have already met with Mims at the combine, and this added meeting could be to confirm his medical information and learn more about him.
We wrote last week how Mims looks like the Bengals' preference should they use the 18th pick on a right tackle. If everything checks out medically for them, this meeting only strengthens that argument.
Picking the best first round NFL Draft target for the Cincinnati Bengals after free agency
The Bengals should have a clear top prospect among their realistic options.
