The 2024 NFL draft is next week. So in this final week ahead of time, I want to go over some of my top players for the Lions in this draft and make the case as to why they're the perfect fit for the Lions. We'll be covering South Carolina receiver Xavier Legette in this one. Here's who we've covered so far:

Kool-Aid McKinstry
Terrion Arnold

The Draw

The Lions have had big hole at receiver for a while. It's difficult to notice since the offense has been so good, but this team lacks a guy that can go up and win a fight in the air. Legette can do that with the best of them. He is spectacular contested catcher.

But that's not all he can do, he can be a yards after catch guy too. He also has the build and the capability to bully cornerbacks at the line and block when he's needed to.

The Drawback

He struggles with route running. So much so that Gamecocks didn't really use him as a route running receiver until last year. He'll be in good hands with Ben Johnson and Antwaan Randle-El though.

Because he struggled with route running. South Carolina didn't really use him a lot until 2023 when he put int he work and moved up the depth chart.

Where can the Lions draft him

Right now he should be there for the Lions with the 61st pick in the second round. There is a solid chance he could be taken before that too, so if the Lions really want him. There is a possibility that they would have to move up for him.

The Lions are likely interested, they had a formal meeting with him at the combine and attended his pro day.
