Familiarity and comfortability will be two major keys for Titans starting quarterback Will Levis as he enters his first season as a full-time starter in 2024. Tennessee has made multiple moves to upgrade Levis' supporting cast, especially at wide receiver, but one national media outlet is proposing a hypothetical trade that would reunite Levis with one of his former teammates.
Bleacher Report recently released a list of seven hypothetical trades that would reunite quarterbacks with a former wide receiver. For Levis and the Titans, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox names New York Giants wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson as an ideal trade target.
From Bleacher Report: The New York Giants have seen flashes from 2022 second-round pick Wan'Dale Robinson, who finished his sophomore campaign with 525 yards and a touchdown. But they have parted with early draft picks in the past—it traded 2021 first-round pick Kadarius Toney midway through his second season.
The Giants won't actively shop Robinson now, but they may not remain committed to him if receivers like Darius Slayton, Isaiah McKenzie, Jalin Hyatt and rookie first-round pick Malik Nabers push him down the depth chart in 2024.
If Robinson isn't seeing much playing time leading into the trade deadline, the Tennessee Titans should make their move. They added Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd this offseason to complement DeAndre Hopkins. However, all three of their top receivers will be 30 or older by the end of the season.
Levis broke onto the scene in his junior season at Kentucky in 2021. He passed for 2,827 yards and tossed 24 touchdowns to 13 interceptions in his first season as the Wildcats starter. The key component to Levis' breakout season was Robinson.
Robinson posted 1,334 receiving yards with seven touchdowns in his only season at Kentucky. He was Levis' most-trusted pass catcher and has a unique skillset that the Titans have been lacking, especially out of the slot.
It's easy to see why Levis remains fond of Robinson. The former Kentucky duo even attended the Kentucky Derby together. Though the pair have plenty of chemistry, the odds of this trade happening in 2024 are slim to none.
The Titans have filled the void in the slot by signing former Bengals wideout Tyler Boyd to a one-year deal in free agency. Tennessee also drafted Tulane wide receiver Jha'Quan Jackson in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft who is also in position to carve out a role for himself behind the aforementioned Boyd.
With that being said, if Robinson's playing time takes a hit in New York and the Titans opt to move on from Boyd next offseason, then this is a possibility that could receive more attention in 2025. For now, the Titans should feel comfortable with the receivers they have in house, which is a new feeling for a franchise with a well-documented history of ineptitude at the position.
