Raiders safety Tre'Von Moehrig had one main thought on his mind Christmas Day vs. the Chiefs
The Las Vegas Raiders had two monumental wins last season. Of course, the first one was when they scored 63 points on the Los Angeles Chargers, causing them to fire their head coach Brandon Staley. The Las Vegas Raiders had two monumental wins last season. Of course, the first one was when they scored 63 points on the Los Angeles Chargers, causing them to fire their head coach Brandon Staley. The second one, well, it's pretty obvious it's going to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day, and beat them up.
At the time, the Chiefs had a pretty significant streak on the Raiders. Since 2020, the Raiders are 2-6 vs. the Chiefs. However, they were 1-6 before that Christmas Day game. And, that one is by far one of the best wins they have had over the Chiefs in a while.
The two teams hate one another so that certainly helped fuel the rivalry. Then you put it on prime time and on one of the biggest regular-season games of the year on Christmas Day, and it's even more magnified. Now, you also add on that the Chiefs have won the last Super Bowl, at that time, and the Raiders wanted to break up their party.
They did just that, and according to the players, they wanted to be the Grinch.
"I think going in to that game, we just wanted to be the bad guys," Tre'Von Moehrig said at media day. "We wanted to be the villains. We wanted to make a statement like, we are coming in and taking over your house no matter what. And, like you said, that energy that day and on the way home was just a mess. We did what we came to do, you know, get the dub, and we came back home and celebrated.
Even to hear Moehrig say that means something because he hardly talks at all, I mean Christian Wilkins has been trying to get Moehrig to say more than five words a day. But to hear Moehrig say that means they really meant it, and they were about that business that day, because he doesn't talk trash at all.
These two teams hate one another – that's no secret. Now, after the Chiefs have won the Super Bowl in the Raiders' home stadium, the Raiders will be even more hungry to take them out when the two teams play one another.
