Pittsburgh Steelers CB Joey Porter Jr. is never short on confidence.

A position that demands it, between his play, his pedigree, and his skillset, Porter Jr. has every right to believe he is among the best CBs in the league.

But when looking at his list of the top five corners in the league, the absence of a back-to-back All-Pro in favor of himself is sure to leave his peers shaking their heads.

Porter Jr. leaves Sauce Gardner off his list of top five CBs

“There’s a lot of good corners. I think [L’Jarius] Sneed. I think he’s like that,” Porter told Bleacher Report's Jordan Schultz when listing his top 5 cornerbacks in the NFL. “[Trent] McDuffie, I feel like he’s a baller. Jaylon Johnson from the Bears, I think he’s a dawg. [Patrick] Surtain’s like that. That’s already a known, Surtain. And I’ll probably throw me in there, obviously. Of course, gotta throw my name (in there).”

Gardner, who many believe is far and away the best CB in the league, is a two-time Pro Bowler and two-time first-team All-Pro and he's played a total of… oh yeah two seasons.

So even if Porter Jr. wanted to keep himself on the list, subbing out Jaylon Johnson for Gardner would have made sense.

And despite national outlets discounting the incredible rookie season that Porter Jr. had, he's already on record saying that he's the best CB in the league despite a small sample size.

“Me for sure,” Porter told The Athletic's Mark Kaboly when asked who is the best CB in the league. “There are a lot of good DBs in this league. Nobody was doing what I was doing going against WR1s the entire year and locking him down. I don’t care if I am mentioned in there or not because they are going to hear my name eventually…

"…I always try to keep my confidence up, my swagger up. Coming into the building, I always felt that I was that guy. You have to work to get that respect, but I think everybody understands what I can bring to the table. I always had the mentality as a kid of wanting the best just to see where I stack up. I am always going to pick me over anybody else. I always have had that confidence.”

So Porter Jr.'s reasoning for placing himself on the list is valid, but you would like to have seen the best CB in the league included.
