The Seattle Seahawks already have one of the better receiver corps in the NFL.
But they are showing interest in adding further depth to an impressive group by bringing a former 1,000-yard wideout into the fray.
Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Robbie Chosen will participate in the Seahawks' minicamp on a tryout basis.
Chosen, previously known as Robbie Anderson and Chosen Anderson, spent last season with the Miami Dolphins but made only four catches in nine games.
Yet the former New York Jets, Carolina Panthers and Arizona Cardinals receiver does have a prior history of strong production.
He had 1,096 yards receiving in 2020 for the Panthers, topping his previous high of 941 yards with the Jets in 2017, a season in which he also had seven touchdowns.
Chosen has four seasons with at least 700 receiving yards.
Now 31 years old, Chosen's best years appear to be behind him, but there's still reason to believe he could earn a place on the Seahawks' roster.
In DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the Seahawks have an extremely talented top three at receiver.
Though undrafted free agent Jake Bobo became a cult hero for Seattle last season, there is clear potential for Chosen to stake his claim for a place on the back of the receiver depth chart.
Seattle signed former second-round pick Laviska Shenault earlier in the offseason. However, beyond Metcalf and Lockett, nobody in the receiving corps can claim to have produced at the same level as Chosen.
The challenge for him now is to prove that, after a disappointing spell with the Dolphins, he can still serve as very useful depth in Ryan Grubb's offense.
