Former Pro Bowl WR may be the Pittsburgh Steelers' answer to increasingly clear offensive issue

The Pittsburgh Steelers offseason is over and the team is still without a proven veteran to pair alongside George Pickens in the WR corps.
And while the options on the free agent market aren't exactly intriguing, Pittsburgh will have to take what they can get.
But one former Pro Bowler may be Pittsburgh's best bet for the Steelers.
Michael Thomas as best of the rest?
The initial look at what Thomas can provide the Steelers probably isn't exactly what fans want when analyzing his post-Drew Brees tenure with the Saints. But once again, beggars can't be choosers, though when speaking to those who know Thomas better than myself, there is reason for optimism.
I actually quite like the fit of [Michael] Thomas in Pittsburgh. They need more size at WR, and the veteran wideout would not be thrusted into a role too big for him at this point of his career. They may see him as a nice third WR option behind George Pickens and Roman Wilson, two receivers with different skill sets than Thomas.
Tomlin’s “No BS” approach as head coach would be a blessing in disguise for Thomas, in my opinion, as well. As for any team he joins, they need Thomas to stay healthy. A role like one he would have with the Steelers may aid in that, too. –Adam Holt, A to Z Sports New Orleans
But you don't have to take our word for it, as the Steelers reportedly reached out to Thomas earlier in the offseason to gauge interest in a potential signing, meaning those phones could begin ringing once again. Now I know what you're thinking. "Well if he's so good then why is he still available?"
Regarding the arrest, Thonas had the charges dropped in March. Yes he's 31 years old but his game is not and has never been built on atheltcism, so he would be an upgrade over what Allen Robnson was last season.
The latter of Payton's tweet, which refers to his injury history and recent durability concerns are certainly the biggest issue with Thomas and the main reason why he remains unsigned.
Ever since winning Offensive Player of the Year in 2019 where he recorded just under 150 receptions for over 1700 yards and nine TDs, Thomas has yet to play in over seven games.
Even still, Pittsburgh should entertain adding Thomas on a one year deal for a veteran minimum salary. It's likely that Pittsburgh already offered that and Thomas is holding out for either a better deal or the perfect situation.
The latter is looking more and more like Pittsburgh.
