Former Florida Gators/South Carolina Gamecocks head coach Steve Spurrier has been out of coaching for nearly a decade, but he still loves to take some subtle shots at the Tennessee Vols from time to time.

Spurrier has never shied away from making a quip about the Vols. Whether it's about Tennessee playing in the Citrus Bowl (you can't spell Citrus without UT) or taking a shot at the Vols after their blowout loss to South Carolina in 2022, it seems like Spurrier is always ready to send a slight in UT's direction.

On Monday, Spurrier made his weekly appearance on the "Another Dooley Noted Podcast" and he seemed totally unimpressed by Tennessee outfielder Hunter Ensley's insane catch on Sunday against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

"That is neat they have padding on the fences now," said Spurrier after watching the clip of Ensley's catch. "Back in our day they weren't all that kind to those outfielders it seemed like. But it's well-padded now almost everywhere."

Leave it to Spurrier to ignore the amazing effort from Ensley (who had to leave the game against UNC due to crashing into the wall) and focus on how things were during his time as a player (Spurrier was a terrific all-state baseball player at Science Hill High School in Johnson City).

Giving credit to the Volunteers — in any sport, apparently — just isn't in Spurrier's DNA.
