The Las Vegas Raiders have a very big interest in Heisman winner and LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels coming into this draft. He and head coach Antonio Pierce have a long relationship, dating back to Daniels’ days as a 14-year-old. Of course, Pierce was also one of Daniels coaches at Arizona State.

We know the Raiders desperately need a QB, and Daniels is on their radar, but grabbing him is a whole other story. He is projected to be the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and the Raiders sit at pick No. 13.

Trading up for him is not impossible, it’s just going to be incredibly hard. The Raiders would likely have to give up three or possibly more first round picks. However, there is something that will help the Raiders.

According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, Jayden Daniels would be “cool” with playing for the Washington Commanders, but his dream scenario, or “dream world” would be to play for the Las Vegas Raiders.

Does this change things? Maybe. Maybe he has told the Commanders already how he feels, and they would rather take Drake Maye. If so, that would make trading up to pick No. 3 much easier than pick No. 2. But, this is the NFL draft, which means we simply have no idea what will happen.

If the Raiders cannot trade up, I fully expect them to take Michael Penix at pick No. 13, which is what I did in my final mock draft. If they don’t go that route, expect them to take one later in the draft, like maybe a Spencer Rattler in the fourth round.

For now I can say that Raiders fans should hold onto hope that Daniels to the Raiders happens. Thursday is going to be absolutely wild.
