The Detroit Lions haven't had a compensatory pick from losing a player since the 2022 NFL draft when they had three. That streak is going to continue in 2025. Here is why:

The Lions were slated to have a fourth-round compensatory pick for the loss of Jonah Jackson to the Rams, but they canceled that pick out with their signing of Amik Robertson who was a 6th-round compensatory free agent.

When a team loses a compensatory free agent and signs a compensatory free agent, they essentially cancel each other out. So in the grand scheme, it's like they really didn't lose a CFA.

The Lions can still expect to get a compensatory pick this year once defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn takes a head coaching job.

The league would award the Lions with two compensatory third-round picks due to Resolution JC-2A. A rule that is designed to help diversity in the coaching and front office ranks. The Lions would have one this year and one next year.
