I mean absolutely no disrespect by this, but if I was describing one of the best cornerback prospects in the country to you, you might think I was telling you about a player from Alabama or Georgia. You might even think it's Missouri or Michigan. Regardless of where that player comes from, you'd probably be pretty sure it wouldn't be a MAC school. But that's exactly where Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell is coming from.

Despite having interest from Illinois, Arizona State, Florida, Mitchell chose Toledo because they helped him academically out of high school. Even though he had a chance to leave and transfer out, he never did because he felt the relationships he had Toledo were too strong to walk away from.

"Everybody went away, Toledo stayed loyal so I stayed loyal to them." Mitchell said. "I stay loyal to those who stay loyal to me."

That loyalty has caught the eye of NFL teams that are having formal meetings with Mitchell at the NFL Combine. The Lions being one of those teams. Mitchell says that every team has asked him about his loyalty to Toledo and he's been talking about it with a lot of pride.

Loyalty is an invaluable trait in a league where there tends to be a party, whether it be players or teams, who are quick to turn away from being loyal to suit their needs. If you can find a good player that wants to be loyal to your team and loyal to the culture that your team is building, that's a guy that you can count on being in for the long run.

Mitchell has shown to be that guy and he's shown that being that guy is something he likes about himself. The Lions probably like that about him too.
