The Las Vegas Raiders are at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, Indiana, where they are watching and meeting with the prospects they feel meet their needs. They have the 13th pick in the draft, and unlike last offseason, they won't really be looking to use their first-round pick on an edge rusher.
That's largely because they have the best defensive end in the league in Maxx Crosby, no matter what anyone says. Sure, he lost the Defensive Player of the Year Award, but he was the best player on that side of the ball last year; he just didn't have the playoff berth the other nominees did. But that's a story for a different time.
The Raiders may draft an edge in the later rounds, but it's unlikely, or not likely, they draft one in the first round. Yet, all we keep hearing is Maxx Crosby's name at the combine.
That's because all of these young edge rushers look up to him and try to emulate their game after Crosby. No disrespect to Myles Garrett or T.J. Watt, as both are amazing players, but I haven't heard very many people, if any, talk about them that way.
There is a compilation video put together of just how many times edge rushers and defenders have said they model their game after Maxx Crosby.
Maxx Crosby later quote tweeted the video.
The dude is becoming an icon, and he deserves it. No one works harder than the condor.
