The Philadelphia Eagles are losing running back D'Andre Swift to the Chicago Bears.

According to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo, Swift and the Bears agreed to a three-year, $24 million deal.

That left the Eagles searching for Swift's replacement, though they knew exactly what they wanted.

New York Giants insider Connor Huges reported earlier on Monday that the Eagles were battling the Houston Texans to land running back Saquon Barkley.

"There are increased rumblings that the Eagles are willing to go north of $12 million annually for Saquon Barkley, per sources. That's higher than the Texans, which is believed to be near $11 million," Huges wrote on X/Twitter. "This would be quite the splash for Howie Roseman. The sentiment was always that Barkley would give the Giants a chance to match/do better. Would Schoen keep Barkley away from division rival?"

And the Eagles won.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that running back Saquon Barkley and the Eagles have reached a three-year deal worth up to $46.75 million with $26 million guaranteed.

That's a shocking amount considering Howie Roseman and the Eagles are known to be hesitant about paying running backs.

Schefter adds that Barkley beats the franchise tag number and has a maximum average-per-year salary of $15.833M, the second-highest for a running back in league history.

Barkley has notched over 1,000 total rushing yards in four of his six NFL seasons.

He would have eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards for the Giants in 2023 had he not missed three games due to a high ankle sprain and had a better offensive line. He finished last season running for 962 yards and six touchdowns and added another 280 yards and 4 touchdowns receiving.

According to A to Z Sports' contract experts, 27-year-old Barkley was projected to sign a three-year, $31.5 million deal with $15 million guaranteed.

He gets a little more than that from the Birds.
