The Philadelphia Eagles are making a massive move early in the 2024 NFL free agency as they've reportedly agreed to terms with running back Saquon Barkley and the Dallas Cowboys know they'll have to figure out a way to stop him.
So much so that Micah Parsons chose the perfect word to describe the news on Twitter/X by posting "sickening" on Monday:
Parsons' reaction is as funny as it is telling: The Eagles are no strangers to renewing themselves and this time they took it to another level by adding Barkley and rising DE Bryce Huff. In a division were the margin between the Eagles and Cowboys is so thin, even an addition at running back could sway the balance in one direction.
Although Barkley's financial compensation will be widely debated this year and in the future, the reality is that the future signing is intriguing. The Eagles' woes on offense have to do mostly with the passing game and how the team's scheme is built in that area.
But they've been an elite rushing offense for a while now thanks to their dominant offensive line and Jalen Hurts' skills as a runner. In 2023, the offense struggled finding explosive runs, however, and that's where Barkley might come in and take the Eagles back to their elite rushing offense. You gotta give it to Howie Roseman, the Eagles' front office has shown an ability to respond quickly to such problems.
Micah's simple yet revealing reaction also comes from a place of being concern about the Cowboys' run defense. Earlier in the year, he revealed he told Jerry Jones the team had to add a downhill linebacker and a "nasty" interior defensive lineman.
