While the New England Patriots have added some players on offense during the offseason, there is still one position that the team has yet to completely fill.

And based on how things went during the 2023 season, this is clearly something that needs to be remedied. But it's going to come down to the draft to see if the Patriots take their next franchise quarterback.

Even the players don't have any idea what's going to happen. And Austin Hooper made sure to get that point across when speaking with the media on Thursday.

“I’m not the GM. I’m not the head coach," Hooper said. "I don’t know what their plan is for draft day. They haven’t tipped their cards for me."

However, despite the uncertainty, Hooper still made the decision to come to the Patriots and he isn't concerned. Whether it's veteran Jacoby Brissett, a rookie quarterback, or maybe even Bailey Zappe, he knows he can play with anyone.

Plus, the new staff that Jerod Mayo has assembled in New England was a big factor in Hooper's ultimate decision to join the Patriots.

"Realizing the staff that's in place, especially on the offensive side of the ball made it really simple," Hooper said. "I'm grateful for the opportunity. Grateful to work with people I've worked with in the past and ready to go."

Hooper already has a connection with new offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt, having played under him for two years in Cleveland. And despite both leaving the Browns, they have made their way back to each other.

Hooper has 25 touchdowns across his eight seasons in the NFL, so hopefully he can add a few more in New England during his ninth year. And that's regardless of who's throwing the ball.
