Coming into the offseason, the Detroit Lions were expected to do one pretty big thing and that's come to terms on an extension with quarterback Jared Goff. After comments from Goff's agent Ryan Tollner, it seemed like this would be the first thing the Lions would take care of. Here we sit at the beginning of May and it's not happened yet.
Lions GM Brad Holmes talked with 97.1 The Ticket on Thursday morning and said the two sides are still working together on a deal.
“It’s important, it’s a high priority for us.” Holmes said. “Both sides are working really, really hard. These things just take time.”
People might think this is sign that the two parties are having trouble coming to an agreement on terms. The most popular theory is that Goff wants a long term deal and the Lions want a short term deal that’s likely not what’s happening here.
What’s happening is that, like Holmes said, these things take time.
