The Philadelphia Eagles acquired Kevin Byard via trade with the Tennessee Titans during the 2023 regular season, hoping the All-Pro safety would provide some stability and veteran experience to their young and banged-up secondary.
Byard made an effort but it just wasn't enough for the Eagles' struggling defense.
He started 11 games for the Birds where he logged 80 tackles, four QB pressures, and an interception.
The Eagles released him on March 1 and saved themselves $13 million against the salary cap.
It didn't take long for Byard to find a new him as he inked a two-year, $15 million deal with the Chicago Bears on Sunday, March 10 — just one day before the official start of NFL free agency.
The move isn't a surprise considering Byard visited Chicago on Saturday.
Byard is expected to replace ex-Bears veteran safety Eddie Jackson who was released in a cap-saving move last month.
