Even when both sides should move on, the separation of parties can be difficult.

And for the Pittsburgh Steelers and former QB Kenny Pickett, that decsion came last week when he was traded to the Eagles for a third-round pick.

So when introduced earlier in the week as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles, Pickett explained why he requested a change in scenery:

Time to Move On

"I just thought it was time," Pickett told the media during Monday's introductory press conference in Philadelphia. "It just felt like it was time from the things that transpired and wanted to get a chance to go somewhere else and continue to grow my career. And the fact that it's in Philly, the place that I grew up, found a love for the game here, with a great coaching staff, great players."

Now there is plenty of fodder surrounding Pickett's departure and how it went down, but as credibly reported by multiple media members and as sources close to the situation have told me, Pickett didn't "run from competition."

He was sold a bill of goods and when he realized there was no longer a chance for him to start, he asked to be traded to a new situation where he could potentially revitalize his career.

Now, one could argue that trying to do that in Philadelphia behind a QB that was in the leader house for the MVP less than two years ago isn't a great idea, but there are things below the surface in Philadelphia that point to a scenario where Pickett plays sooner than many may believe.

Regardless, Pickett is happy to be in a new spot and close to home, and Pittsburgh has the QBs they wanted via Russell Wilson and Justin Fields. So while everyone will try and drag on the drama, both sides have already put their differences behind them.
