The contract details for new Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Hollywood Brown have been revealed.

Brown signed a one-year deal with the Chiefs last week. NFL reporter Albert Breer broke down the structure of the contract.

Brown has $6.5 million in guaranteed money between his salary and signing bonus, which is a tremendous value for K.C. For comparison, Calvin Ridley got $50 million guaranteed, Darnell Mooney $26 million and Gabriel Davis $24 million. Brown also has three key categories in incentives – receiving yards, touchdowns and playing time.

  • Receiving yards: $500,000 for 500, $625,000 for 625, $750,000 for 750 and $1.5 million for 1,000.
  • Touchdowns: $500,000 for five, $750,000 for six and $1 million for seven.
  • Playing time (percentage of snaps played): $500,00 for 45 percent, $625,000 for 52.5 percent, $750,000 for 60 percent and $1.5 million for 75 percent.

Brown has topped those totals in different seasons throughout his career, but never in the same one. In 2021 he had over 1,000 receiving yards, but six touchdowns. He had a career-high eight touchdowns in 2020, but only 769 yards. Last year Brown played 69 percent of the Arizona Cardinals' regular season snaps, which would not earn him the maximum value of his playing time incentive with K.C. this year.

The biggest key for Brown hitting the max for all of his incentives will be to stay healthy. If he's able to do that, racking up 1,000 yards should be very attainable. He'll have a shot at seven touchdowns, but that could be challenging considering how much the Chiefs spread the ball around near the goal line.
