The Indianapolis Colts were rewarded edge rusher Isaiah Land from the Dallas Cowboys through waivers.

Cowboys fans and anayalsts were shocked to see Land not make the teams 53-man roster, and were hoping he would make it through waivers to the Cowboy's practice squad.

To their dismay, Land didnt make it through waivers and was claimed by the Colts.

Land was a very productive college player at Flordia A&M, his junior in 2021 being his best season where he led the nation in sacks and tackle for loss.

College Stats:

  • 2019
2 Sacks, 5 Tackles for Loss, 23 Total Tackles (9 games)
  • 2021
19 Sacks, 25.5 Tackles for Loss, 43 Total Tackles (12 games)
  • 2022
8 Sacks, 12 Tackles for Loss, 23 Total Tackles (8 games)

Colts GM Chris Ballard spoke on the addition of Land in his press conference yesterday, and he had this to say:

"We wanted to add some speed off the edge, he's a guy we really liked him in the draft. He ended up going undrafted and ended up in Dallas, showed us enough, that we said lets take a shot and get him in here. His head coach in college Willie Sims is a good friend and a good guy. He's been beating on the table telling us what he thinks his potential is."

Land will now join an edge room with Kwity Paye, Dayo Odeyingbo, Samson Ebukam, and Tyquan Lewis. The area that Ballard spoke too that will help Land stand out from this room is his speed. And if he's able to learn the playbook fast enough, his speed could help him get on the field earlier than people think.
