FOXBOROUGH, MA – The New England Patriots have been forced to make a lot of changes to the offensive line as the start of the season draws closer.
On Aug. 27, just two days before cutdown day, the Patriots traded a sixth-round pick to the Minnesota Vikings for OL Vederian Lowe. And it has been fast-paced for Lowe since coming to Foxborough.
"I've had to have a quick transition. Just trying to get used to the culture that I'm in and the coaches and learning the playbook. I'm trying to pick that up as quickly as I can," Lowe said. "That's what I'm dealing with on a day-to-day, just taking it step-by-step and getting better each day."
Lowe was a sixth-round pick out of Illinois in 2022, playing in four games as a rookie for the Vikings. He finished his first season allowing two sacks in 140 snaps.
And he sees a lot of potential in the Patriots organization, already taking notice about the culture.
"It's a very disciplined organization. They expect a lot from their guys and Coach Belichick makes it very clear what he wants and what he expects day in and day out," Lowe said. "I definitely notice the Patriots Way just being here a week."
"It's my first season with a new team. I'm trying to get established and I'm trying to find my way here and everything like that," Lowe added. "I'm very excited though, to be a part of this organization. And I'm very excited to see what our team can do this season."
The 6-foot-6, 320 pound tackle was one of two linemen the Patriots added that day, also acquiring Tyrone Wheatley Jr. from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for running back Pierre Strong Jr.
Lowe expressed how it's been nice having a fellow teammate who understands what he is going through, with the two relying on each other.
"It's been good having a guy who came in the same, like I traded eight hours earlier or something like that. So it's been nice having another person to kind of go through the steps with and it's definitely made the process easier for me."
And while so many dread the weather in New England, Lowe isn't too worried about it.
"I was in Minnesota so they can't get worse than that," he said.
