Robin and Jimmy Burrow, the parents of Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, recently joined Cincinnati.com's Kelsey Conway on the "Bengals Beat Podcast" for a lengthy conversation that touched on several topics.
You can check out the nearly 40 minute interview here.
At one point during the conversation, Conway asked Burrow's parents about the loudest NFL stadiums that they've seen their son play in.
Burrow's parents, who noted that New York Jets fans aren't as bad as some folks make them out to be, pointed to the Kansas City Chiefs and the New Orleans Saints as the two franchises that have the loudest stadiums (outside of Cincinnati) that they've seen so far.
Conway also asked Burrow's parents if they ever try to "blend in" due to hostile fans.
"When you go to Cleveland, among others, with Burrow gear on, they're not very nice at times," said Jimmy Burrow. "We did (try to blend in) at New York the first time we played the Jets because people had told us they're the worst, but they're not the worst. I'll just leave it at that."
"They're (Jets) not the worst," added Robin Burrow. "The worst is closer to home."
I'm not 100 percent sure who Burrow's mom is referring to when she says "the worst is closer to home", but it seems likely that she's talking about Cleveland (especially considering Burrow's father's comment about Browns fans not being very nice to folks wearing Burrow gear).
As for the loudest stadiums, Arrowhead Stadium is the first venue that comes to mind for Burrow's father.
"It's the Chiefs," said Jimmy Burrow. "Because it's the Chiefs and they have a great fan base. But that game always means so much to the standings and home field and all that. And then Nebraska (where Jimmy played and briefly coached) is only three hours from Kansas City. So we have tons of fans there from our family, but that's the loudest. They're all pretty crazy."
"I'd say the Saints inside the Superdome is also very loud," added Robin Burrow.
"That was one of our favorite games," noted Jimmy. "There were a lot of Burrow jerseys that day."
The Bengals won that matchup last season against the Saints 30-26 in what was Burrow's first return to the Superdome since leading LSU to a win against Clemson in the national championship game in early 2020.
It'll likely be a while before Burrow gets to play in New Orleans again, but he returns to Kansas City on New Year's Eve for a huge showdown with Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Burrow and his family will also return to the unfriendly confines of Cleveland Browns Stadium this weekend to open the 2023 season.
